The Gerson Miracle (2008/Cinema Libre DVD)

Cancer seems to be so unsolvable that some may want to keep it so to make money off of it.  Steve Kroschel’s The Gerson Miracle (2008) is a thought-provoking Documentary that tells us about a therapy developed three-quarters of a century ago by Dr. Max Gershon to use nutrition and the body’s ability to heal itself to cure cancer.  I guess it could not hurt and I have my doubts this could work for everyone, but anything with science that dubs itself a “miracle” is especially suspicious.

However, it uses its 91 minutes well and though that is hardly enough time to believe all the claims and the parts about all the chemicals and pollution all over the place and coming in contact with us every second of everyday is enough to cause obsessive-compulsive behavior in many viewers (or you could say this is trying to scare the viewer on some shallow level), it makes for interesting viewing.  Too bad it leaves something to be desired.

The anamorphically enhanced 1.78 X 1 image is soft, has aliasing errors and combines various low def sources, while the Dolby Digital 2.0 sound is barley stereo and sounds good for such a production.  A section about Cinema Libre is the only extra.
