The Making Of Trump (2016/History Channel/Lionsgate DVD)

Picture: C Sound: B- Extras: D Main Program: B

Donald Trump, billionaire, capitalist, and considered one of the richest men in the USA, even if the actual dollar figure is disputed. The History Channel takes a look at Trump through the decades, from his childhood to his rise in power to his presidential candidacy in their new profile The Making Of Trump.

Who is Donald Trump? The name Trump will always be associated with wealth, power and fame. While no one can deny Trump had made millions through the years through his properties and is a shrewd business dealer, one does wonder why his rise to fame hasn't always be successful (those four business bankruptcies), but he has somehow managed always to either find a way out or profit from it. His rise to power was wealth and power was, like his marriages, notorious and he started with some help from his father. And now the million (or billion) dollar question is what do you think he would do to America if he became President?

Some love him, some hate him, but it seems like to him, he doesn't care, instead he uses his fame to make himself bigger and larger than life. His motto seems to be 'Too big to fail' and on the slogan 'Make America Great Again' his has risen now to be a presidential candidate... but at what cost? No doubt he has big ideas and a shrewd business man, but is that suited to be a President? Would his 'New Deal' be like Roosevelt or end up just increasing the national debt? Will he turn American into a new(er) American Empire? Will business, economy, military and foreign relationships be like his marriages, be riding the Trump wave? But perhaps the biggest question isn't about him, but what does it say about those who follow him?

The video is a mixed compilation of new footage and more than its share of older analog video of the past, but its passable, while the Dolby Digital 2.0 sound ranges from old mono to new stereo. There are no extras.
